Derivatives ki padhai...

History and me...

I can't put in words how I hated history back in school days, but now its my fascination...
I have skimmed hundreds of pages on Indian history, its freedom struggle, the Maratha Empire and what not...
Today I stumbled upon a stray piece of information on BBC.com about Nuslin Wadia being grandson of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah... I was stumped to know that... and then I researched Jinnah... Wow what a magnificent personality! Would be doing more research on him I guess, looks like he was man of his words... And my zeal has increased to know more... not just him but all those great figures responsible for formation of India.

P.S: This shows that I have loads of free time at the behest of no work at my onsite location ;-)

Mood: Hungry... to know more... and literally hungry, its lunch time and time to run to Cafe Tandoor!

Giri baap ban-ne waala hai...

Had called up Giri today and he cracked this good news...
Geeta and Giri are expecting their first baby!
I was so happy for them...
I was jumping with joy... Mazaa aa gaya...this was 'News of the day'
Then I called up Bhattu and Jeetu and all of us were jumping with joy...
All of us (Me, Jeetu, Honrao, Mayur and Mukesh - all ex-roomies) ek saath Chacha ban rahein hai...

Giri - you made my day!

Looks like now I need to work on my own personal agenda ;-)

Mood: Happiness is in the air... all my sorrows have been subdued, atleast for today.

He flunked...

Today he flunked...
Who was to be blamed? Me? C'mon... not me for God's sake.
Maybe his lack of confidence in himself was to blame...
I thought he can pull it off, but the worse was to happen.
I had taught him all tricks of the trade, all of them that I knew, yet...

I take it to be my failure...

Mood: Dejected... Need to motivate him and obviously myself!

Skydived...

For my memoirs... 
Yesterday 07-Jan-07, four of us set out early in the morning to take the plunge from the sky to earth. Yes We Skydived...

Some stats:
Altitude: 15000+ ft
Free Fall: 60+ seconds
Bucks: 300$ for the Jump+DVD recording+Stills
Experience: Priceless...

Jiggi (Jignesh) was the one to lead the idea...
Junkie (Nishant) had asked me for this during my last trek to Mt. Diablo.
Sethi (Pankaj) too wanted to have some fun...

We set out in the morning around 7 from San Ramon towards Hollister around 90 miles from our place...

I have no words to explain my anxiety, nervousness and excitement.

Well we had made a futile attempt just the previous week, after making the payments we realised that the weather was playing spoilsport so we had to wait... and the day had come.

Yesterday was a bright and sunny day, it had been like this for the entire week, so we set out and got ready for the jump. Thanks to Jignesh we reached the place a little late :D but it wasn't too late...

Me and Pankaj decided to go in the first slot. In an hour after reaching Hollister Aiport we were airborne... The time had come to jump and I did it!

Frankly speaking, "2 seconds ke liye meri fati toh thi..." But I had to do it. I would be the first LADE to do this! And I did it... I am falling short of words to describe the experience...

Waise the best part in the jump was the FREE-FALL for 60+ seconds.
I remembered the song, I Believe I can Fly!
Equally good experience was the descent using the parachute...
The descent was a gentle glide from sky to earth and a wonderful view of the Monterey Bay, Hollister and Gilroy lay before me. 
It was a wonderful once in a lifetime experience... 
I guess I am gonna do it again.
